Costumes

Kailei has her first dance competition of the season. She is competing in three dances, jazz, tap and her jazz solo. She had a fashion show tonight. The spider costume she is not fond of but she LOVES her tap and solo costume. The weekend can't come fast enough! I'm so proud of my girl! She dances her heart out 3 days a week.

Vacation

VACATION!!!!! One week off from school! The girls and I started our day with pink, heart shaped pancakes. Then we proceeded to give ourselves facials and pedicures! Meilin's tiny feet look so cute with light pink nail polish on them.

We celebrated Chinese New Year with friends today. Kailei was braver this year. She stayed back by the wall but she did not shake in fear. Meilin LOVED the drums, the lions etc. She didn't like it if the lion came too close though. She was oh so brave in my arms!

This time last year I wasn't sure if Meilin would ever be home. I was just talking about switching over to the waiting child program and I am sooooo glad that I did. Kailei and I are so fortunate to have this silly, adorable baby in our lives!!

Looking forward to spending my week with these two precious girls!

Terrible Two's or Terrific Two's?

Oh this sweet face!When she is sweet, she is oh so sweet but when she is mad, she is oh so mad! Meilin is definitely two! She is so much fun but look out if she is tired, hungry or she doesn't get her way. "No" is her new favorite word and she is testing her independence. She is beginning to understand when I say, "stop banging your fork on the glass cup, If you don't I will take the spoon away. Or You have to wear your swim molds in the tub, If you don't than there is no bath for Meilin." She is a smart cookie and so adorable. I'm glad our relationship is strong enough to grow together. Love you baby girl!

7 Years

7 years ago today I was granted my first treasured gift, Kailei June Shao Lemis. She has been the light of my life. She is growing up so quickly and I am proud of the person she is, a scholar, a musician and a dancer. She is beautiful inside and out! I love her with all my heart.

Meilin's Birthday Party

My birthday girl danced her heart out today at her birthday party. Good friends, good food and beautiful China babies! Who could ask for a better day!!

Dear Meilin Rose,

Tomorrow is your second birthday but your first one home. Even though I was not there with you on your first, you were with me in spirit, growing in my heart. As I stare at the first photo I ever received of you, I knew then that you were mine, the baby I had been waiting for, the one God had planned for me right along. I have seen those sorrowful eyes brighten and sparkle and witnessed your frown turn into a smile that melts my heart. Your once guarded soul has opened up and you give and receive love so readily. You have a forever family now. We will be here for you always. You will never celebrate a birthday alone again. I love you my sweet baby girl.
